William V Martin - Class Of 1976

William V. “Bill” Martin, 57, of Pleasant Valley Community, passed away Monday, August 10, 2015, at UMPC Mercy Hospital, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

He was born in Clarksburg, WV, on January 10, 1957, a son of the late James E. “Gene” Martin and Evelyn Gertrude Smith Martin.

Bill was co-owner, along with his brother, of S&M Glass Co. of Fairmont.

He was a member of Valley Chapel United Methodist Church. He was a licensed auctioneer and worked at Chancellor’s Auction in Monumental. He was a 1976 graduate of East Fairmont High School and participated in varsity football, baseball and wrestling.

He attended West Virginia University, Fairmont State University and Marshall University and graduated from Salem University with bachelor’s degrees in chemistry and biology. He was an Eagle Scout at Troop No. 7, Valley Chapel United Methodist Church. He enjoyed antiquing and attending local and regional auctions.

He is survived by his brother, Robert “Bob” Martin and his wife Stephanie, a niece, Ashley Martin and a nephew, Andrew Martin, all of Fairmont.

Friends may call at the Ford Funeral Home, Ford Chapel, 201 Columbia St., Fairmont on Thursday, August 13, 2015, from 1-8 p.m. Mr. Martin will lie in state at the Valley Chapel United Methodist Church in Pleasant Valley on Friday, Aug. 14, 2015, from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Funeral services will be conducted at the Valley Chapel United Methodist Church on Friday, Aug. 14, 2015, at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Andrew Tennant officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery & Mausoleum in Fairmont.
