(George) Bruce Myers - Class Of 1979

George Bruce Myers, 39, of Panama City, Fla., and formerly of Fairmont, died Tuesday (July 4, 2000) at his home. 


He was born Dec. 17, 1961, in Fairmont, a son of the late George B. and Barbara Stiles Myers. 


Growing up in Fairmont, he earned the degree of Eagle Scout from Troop No. 1 of the Diamond Street Church. He coached basketball at Barrackville and was also a referee. He was a member of the Diamond Temple United Methodist Church and later attended the Noah's Arc Church of Fairview. He moved to Florida and was employed by the Bay Medical Hospital in Panama City, where he attended the St. Andrew's Assembly of God Church. 


He is survived by his wife, Melanie Hedges Myers of Panama City; a son, George William Myers of Panama City; two sisters, Mrs. Richard (Pam) Poling of Grafton, and Mrs. Michael (Diane) Sypolt of Fairmont; and four nieces and nephews, Rickee and Heather Poling of Grafton, and Seth and Jessica Sypolt of Fairmont. 


Memorial Services will be held Saturday at the St. Andrew's Assembly of God Church in Panama City, with the Rev. Jeff Scalf officiating. Interment will be in Panama City. The family requests memorial donations to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association. Wilson Funeral Home in Panama City is in charge of arrangements.
