Laura Louise Cottrill, 57 of Bridgeport, passed away on Thursday, September 7, 2017. 

She was born in Marion County on October 17, 1959 a daughter of the late Carl Carter and Retha (Bowman) Carter. 

She is survived by her devoted husband of 37 years, Mark Cottrill. 
Laura graduated from East Fairmont High School in 1977 and attended Fairmont State University. She worked in the Medical Records Department for many years at Fairmont General Hospital. 

She was a member of the Lifeway BIBLE Fellowship Church in Bridgeport. Laura was a loving wife, and mother and enjoyed the companionship of her Bulldog, Mack. 

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her son, Mark Dayton Cottrill and his wife Emma of Taylor County; her brother, David Carter and his wife Diana of Fairmont; her sisters, Debbie Layman of Fairmont, Linda Suplita and her fiancée, Dell Hess of Fairmont and Bonnie Wamsley and her husband Gary of Fairmont and several caring nieces and nephews. 

Also surviving are a brother-in-law, Greg Cottrill and his wife Vickie and Shinnston and a sister-in-law, Angela Hartley and her husband Tim of Morgantown. 

In addition to her parents, Laura was preceded in death by her son, Richard Lee Cottrill in April of 2017 and a brother-in-law, Mike Layman. 

Friends and family may call at the Carpenter & Ford Funeral Home, 209 Merchant Street, Fairmont on Sunday from 5pm to 8pm and on Monday from 10am to 11am. The funeral service will be at 11am on Monday, September 11, 2017 at the funeral home with Pastor Tom Horn officiating. Interment will follow at the Pisgah Cemetery.
